Marlene,
Panda and Dragon will take you on a philosophical journey where neither the journey NOR the destination is that important - it’s the company that matters。 A book full of the wisdom of at least a hundred self-help books condensed into one short read。 ;)“‘I don’t know the way。’ sighed Tiny Dragon。 ‘Despite what they might say, no one knows the way。 We’re all just doing our best。’”
Siobhán,
A beautiful book to give as gift - Suitable for young and old, with lovely art and timeless truths。
Figgy,
Review to come, but in the meantime。。。This is a gorgeous, thoughtful, uplifting book about love, friendship, and not stressing too much about the goings-on around us。 Buddhist thoughts, presented in an engaging, illustrated format that will leave you feeling a little bit better about the world, and yourself, than you did before you read it。Great gift idea, and ideal for lovers of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse。 Review to come, but in the meantime。。。This is a gorgeous, thoughtful, uplifting book about love, friendship, and not stressing too much about the goings-on around us。 Buddhist thoughts, presented in an engaging, illustrated format that will leave you feeling a little bit better about the world, and yourself, than you did before you read it。Great gift idea, and ideal for lovers of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse。 。。。more

2。5 starsThis felt nearly identical to The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy that I read and adored last year。 A lot of the passages felt almost word-for-word similar, and the overall sentiment felt exactly the same。 I had to pause very early on and google whether Mackesy was using a pen name。 However, the art wasn't as compelling and the emotional impact wasn't as strong。 I'm not saying there shouldn't be multiple books like both Big Panda and The Boy, but it did make Big 2。5 starsThis felt nearly identical to The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy that I read and adored last year。 A lot of the passages felt almost word-for-word similar, and the overall sentiment felt exactly the same。 I had to pause very early on and google whether Mackesy was using a pen name。 However, the art wasn't as compelling and the emotional impact wasn't as strong。 I'm not saying there shouldn't be multiple books like both Big Panda and The Boy, but it did make Big Panda feel derivative, and there wasn't anything special or unique outside of a different choice of animals to set this one apart from its predecessor。 It's perfectly fine and still has a good message。 I guess it's just down to the reader's preferred art style and/or animal companions。 。。。more
